Matt and Nicky met in the summer of 2012 at a Naples Open Mic night. Matt had been performing with several different bands in town for a few years, and had just joined the progressive bluegrass band My Girl My Whisky & Me. Nicky had sung in choirs, but the open mic they met at was her first experience with the local music scene. They became friends that night, and started
dating soon after.
In early 2013, Nicky began performing alongside Matt and friends George and Kelly Colyer in My Girl My Whiskey & Me. Wanting to explore other genres, the two formed The Good Bad Kids as a side project in October 2013, with an old beat up guitar and a rusty tambourine. The band has seen several changes in their lineup and have had the pleasure of including Joe Garita on upright bass and Dempsey Jones on percussion, both were involved in the writing and recording of The Good Bad Kids debut album, Howdy.
Currently, Matt plays both acoustic and electric guitar with Nicky on drums, they are known for prominent his and her harmonies, genre diversity and energetic performances. They now live and perform in Asheville, NC and the surrounding area! More tour dates to be announced!
